Design House in feature image: Shifting Sands

Last year around this time I convinced a friend of mine to join me for the bi-annual bridal expo in our city and not because I was planning a wedding but simply because I was curios.

I had never fully appreciated all the details that are needed to make a wedding work until my experience at the expo. From what I’ve seen, wedding planning looks both exciting and exhausting all at once.

From what I can imagine, or maybe how I would approach the planning phase is by first finding the styles of dresses that I think would work for me. I’ve recently become obsessed with some of these local and international bridal accounts and I think they are worth following.

So if you, or someone you know are in the market for a wedding dress or just want some inspiration to dream about for that one day in the future, here are some Instagram accounts that will make you want a wedding as soon as tomorrow.

Searching for the perfect lewk? Well, we’re here with the best dress selection (to cover most occasions) for you and all the other babes on a budget.

Petals dress

By now, this is no secret- floral frocks are fully in vogue , which means, there isn’t a place you can go (fashion-related) where you cannot score a satisfactory deal. Shift from mini’s to maxi’s or from sleeveless to the long and flowing sleeves as the autumn spell progresses.

Pinafore and dungarees

Pinafores and dungarees will never fail you when your vibe is easy and all you wanna wear is a tee shirt and denim. These laid back a-liners offer the perfect solution when jeans and other tight fitters are simply out of the question.

Corset Dress

The Victorian fashion staple is back again, this time with a lot less pain and a little less drama. If a dress that gives your waist a more defined look is what you’re after, then look no further than the front side lace-up dress which is perfect for the casual girl as well as the girl on the move.

Slip dress

The shimmering slip with ‘90’s spaghetti straps is not moving off the trend charts any time soon, so layer yours over a soft knit or under show-stopping outerwear.

Knits

Keeping it 100 in knits and sweatshirts has never been easier or cooler. Simply team your jersey/sweater dress over your favourite stockings or leggings, dress your feet in your fave shoes and you’re ready for world domination.

If you haven’t scrolled past at least five wedding albums on each of your timelines by now, then yours is a unique experience. Mine are buzzing on a weekly basis with news of a wedding here and another someplace else, and well of course, it’s expected since the beginning of spring is the unofficial mark to the start of wedding season.

Hey, and who can refuse a good wedding? So, here we are waving this glorious season in like;

Weddings always present you with the opportunity to put your best foot forward, and better yet if you’re single. I mean, there a countless people who can testify that their “happily ever after’s” began at someone else’s wedding.

If there was ever a dress code rule to follow as a guest to a wedding it would be- keep it simple, always! Not only for sake of praticality, but also because you don’t want to be the girl who tried to steal anyone’s shine.

A midi bell-sleeved dress is a great option for an afternoon spring wedding. It will keep you cool during the day and offer some comfort when the temperatures drop in the evening.

Take a break from the typical nude shades and have a party with colour.
